"Commitment" begins the story of my hospitalization in 2004 at a private mental health facility. While not exactly recent, my stay may shed some light on what to expect when you seek inpatient treatment even today.
This is the first episode in a series of three, and it examines events precipitating admission, admission itself, and events immediately after admission to the hospital. It is personal but also illustrative of life with bipolar disorder and how it affects you even when (especially when) you are unaware that you have it.
